The Classic Style Of The Lexmark Z22 Printer
Most people want a printer that will print their documents simply and reliably. If you are a home user and this sounds like you, the Lexmark Z22 printer using Lexmark Z22 printer cartridge may be a good choice for you. Now, this printer will likely have to be bought refurbished or used at the time of this writing, but if you come across one and are confident in the seller, you may want to consider this machine.
This printer is well respected by the casual buyers who purchase it. It has been reported to print well and dependably, and to print suitably in color using Lexmark ink. Most are very happy, especially when considering the price. You should note that it was designed with older computers in mind, however. While it was designed for some older operating systems, Lexmark's website does provide drivers for Windows XP (I haven't seen any for Vista).
One of the major pros of this printer is its’ price. It was a good value during its day and if you can find one in good condition today and at a similarly good deal then it may be worth the purchase. It is an inkjet printer and the Z22 printer cartridge seem available pretty readily online for about thirty to forty-five dollars.
The reason why I emphasized that only casual users will want to use this printer is mostly because of its speed. It only prints 6.5 pages per minute in black and white, and even fewer in color. A higher volume user will want a faster Inkjet printer (or will want the faster and fancier laser printers instead). If you are simply printing out small documents and letters, for example, then this printer may more than suite your needs.
Another con to consider is that this printer requires a different Z22 ink (if you want to print photos, anyway). The cartridge for printing photos is different from the standard color cartridge and they will have to be switched out with each other depending on what you want to print.
Here are some other stats to consider with this printer. It will take about a hundred sheets of any plain paper - from sizes anywhere from 3-8.5 inches wide and 5-17 inches long. It will load ten envelopes and twenty-five sheets of photo paper at a time. This printer also accepts either parallel or USB connections.
As a respected computer peripheral manufacturing company, you can feel pretty safe with the brand name or Lexmark. They were described as one of the most admired companies of their field by Fortune magazine, and have grown their operations since 1991 to a company that makes about five billion dollars in revenue a year.
If you end up with this machine, expect the Lexmark Z22 ink to cost about $35-45 dollars and be available at online ink retailers. Also expect to find a great deal for a decent printer. Add Lexmark ink and go forth and print!
