HP Color LaserJet 8550n Toner - Makes for An Outstanding Compatible Printer Toner Cartridge
Putting the HP Color LaserJet 8550n printer through its paces quickly reveals that one is looking at a product from Hewlett-Packard that has been built with a large or medium-sized workgroup within a medium-sized business in mind. It does its jobs in both color and monochrome (meaning black and white) equally as well, and it comes to its user at a relatively reasonable price. You'll also need to check out HP Color LaserJet 8550n printer toner.
As far as print speeds, the 8550n has two different speeds. One, color comes in at about six or so pages per minute while the black-and-white or monochrome capability is a robust 24 pages every single minute. Hewlett-Packard looks like it intended for the 8550n to be more of a monochrome laser printer that's capable of doing color jobs if it's required rather than being a pure color printer.
The only way to connect the 8550n is through a parallel port or through a nice Ethernet port. There really is nothing to fret about when it comes to not having a USB connection, because every modern workgroup network will feature at least Ethernet capability. The parallel port connectivity function seems to be so that it can hook into older networks with no problems.
The quality of the print job that Hewlett-Packard has built into the 8550n will be uniformly acceptable across the board. It provides 600x600 dots per inch print resolution, which is normally the standard for most of its printing needs. It can handle graphics-rich print jobs, though that isn't its main duty, which even Hewlett-Packard would say is probably more appropriate for 1200 dpi printers.
The HP 8550n can also be ordered with two-sided printing capability; though that's an option that many workgroups usually don't take advantage of. Onboard memory is a fine 64 MB, which is upgradable to a full 512 MB in no time at all. Always check with the IT department so that they can assess the print needs of the workgroup before devoting any additional monetary resources upgrading memory that just might not be needed. HP has included a nice 200 MHz microprocessor unit to oversee all of the printer activities going on at any one time. This will help keep incoming and outgoing task flow well ordered and fairly speedy. Additionally, HP includes a 3.2 GB internal hard disk drive (HDD), which is nice to have on certain occasions. Monthly duty cycle is rated at 60,000 pages, meaning that it will be a durable machine.
The printer is also a monster when it comes to keeping paper stock onboard, as it can handle up to 1100 sheets within all of its various trays. Media stock that it can print on is just as impressive, with glossy paper envelopes, labels, and plain paper presented no problems as far as print tasks. It will require occasional swap out of its four printer cartridges, so keep that in mind. You will need to change the Color LaserJet 8550n toner cartridges from time to time.
